Steps to create the  Nandroid Backup in Android using CWM / TWRP Recovery

We all love the customization that Android offers to its users. This Iis the main power of the Android OS that other platforms usually misses. One that lovely customization is flashing the ROMs and Kernels. By flashing these two, you can add tons of new enhanced features for your device plus you will get the better performance and battery life on our device. As we all knows that there is a huge risk in flashing these ROMs and Kernels if in case these are corrupted. Then you will result in bricking your device. So, just to be on the safe side, and reduce the risk of bricking, follow the below steps on creating the Nandroid Backup for your Android device.

Basically the Nandroid backup is actually the backup of your current ROM, which have all of your apps and system files in it. You can create Nandroid backup by using the custom recoveries which are CWM and TWRP. So, these both recoveries needs to be installed on your Android device in order to step ahead on creating the Nandroid backup.

Let’s assume that you have already installed the Custom recoveries on your Android Device i.e. CWM and TWRP recovery. Now it’s time to step further into the creation of Nandroid Backup and restoring it using the CWM and TWRP recovery.

Steps to create the Nandroid backup using CWM recovery

Step No. 1

First step is to turn off your device and then boot into the Recovery Mode.

Step No. 2

Now when you are in the CWM recovery, choose Backup and Restore and then select Backup

Step No. 3

In some devices you may be asked to select the location where you really want to create the backup i.e. on internal storage or on External SD card.

Step No. 4

Your battery of the device should be charged well because the backup process will take some time.

Steps  to Restore Nandroid Backup using the CWM Recovery

Step No. 1

First step will be to turn off your device and then boot into Recovery Mode.

Step No. 2

When you are in the CWM recovery, now select Backup and Restore and afterwards chose the Restore option.

Step No. 3

Now if your Nandroid backup file has been stored in internal storage, then you need to select “/sdcard”, but on the other hand if it has been stored on the External SD card then you need to choose “Restore from /storage/sdcard1

Step No. 4

Now select the Backup file.

Step No. 5

Now restore process will begin and it will be going to restore all of your data and settings plus the system files.

Steps to create Nandroid backup using TWRP recovery

Step No. 1

First step will be to turn off your device and then boot into Recovery Mode.

Step No. 2

Now when you are in the TWRP recovery mode choose the option Backup and then choose check all the partations that you want to backup.

Step No. 3

Now you have to select the location and then Enable compression if you desire, and then swipe to start the backup process.

Steps to Restore Nandroid Backup using TWRP Recovery

Step No. 1

First step will be to turn off your device and then boot into Recovery Mode.

Step No. 2

Now when you are in the TWRP recovery, select Restore and then choose the Backup file that you really want to restore.

Step No. 3

Now atlas swipe to start the restore process.

Step No. 4

Your device all data and system files will be restored.
